AMSTERDAM - Netherland

Visiting a capital tests us every time. Maybe because of the long distances that have to be covered by foot, or the vast number of attractions to visit, or the limited time, the fact is that we always end up planning every small detail and then we screw it up at one point. Luckily seeing the art live, always opens the mind...

This morning we woke up with the sound of the rain… great.

After breakfast in the car, we went to the Van Gogh Museum, the Rijksmuseum and the Allard Pierson Museum.

The Van Gogh Museum was super packed so we didn’t spend too much time in it, it also wasn’t organized very well. The world famous Rijksmuseum had rooms that dealt with Holland’s golden age with gigantic paintings, a replica of a ship and more; beside that it wasn’t that great.

The last morning one, the Allard Pierson Museum, is an archaeological museum linked to the university. Inside there was nothing that we had never seen before. The only “different” thing was that you could print a hieroglyph of your name.

Since it wasn’t possible to eat and sit in the “beghineria”, we ate on the road, and we found out that the trams that we needed to go to the Hermitage and the botanical garden were out of order due to cable problems. What to do? We changed our plans and went to the RembrandtHuis Museum; here we were able to attend a demonstration on how to print. In fact, Rembrant was better known for his prints than for his paintings. Towards the end of the day, we also managed to see the botanical garden.

Reminder

Peanut sauce makes me sick. I have to be careful.
