MIDDELBURG - Netherland

According to what they taught us in primary school, Holland has no mountains, in fact most of it is below sea level. Therefore, orienting yourself should be the simplest thing in the world as to move from one point to another, you don't even have to pass hills or any natural unevenness. Unfortunately, our ability level to find the way without a navigator is around zero. We often rely on the locals' directions to find places to eat...

Today we finally got away from that damned place that is supposed to be a campsite. First stop of the day: visit the charming town of Middelburg with its Stadhuis, considered the most beautiful in Holland, and the Abdij.

The first one was being restored but we were able to visit the second for free. It is a gigantic building. There are two churches joined together by a very large room with toilets (obviously paid ones).

In the afternoon we moved to see the “DeltaExpo”. We found ourselves taking a boat ride around the dam, then walking inside of it, where a museum had been set up. The weirdest part was a 3D video explaining the chemistry of water; we came out with a crazy headache.

At 7pm we arrived in Dordrecht and we set up the tent for tonight.

Dinner:

Like last time, in this town, we got lost in the alleys and we have just finished the soups (9.17pm)

  • Onionsoup
  • Romigechampignonsoup: mushroom soup
  • Berespies: no one knows
BRUTTONE’S NOTES:

We stopped an old man for directions, We had to shout at him three times in order to get his attention (the last time super loud at half meter away). He tells us: “[…] Turn right, as soon as you reach the water and you’ve arrived”. I wanted to answer: “Hey grandpa? Are you stoned? We’re in Holland, if I sit on the ground and fart too hard I’d find water! What does “reach the water” mean?? There is water all around us!!”
